VITAMIN C PLUS CHEMOTHERAPY DOUBLES SURVIVAL in METASTATIC PANCREATIC CANCER

Lawrenceville, NJ – Dr Simone – Published in November 2024 in Redox Biology, a randomized, phase 2 clinical trial involving 34 patients with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer received either standard chemotherapy (gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel), or the chemotherapy plus intravenous infusions of high-dose vitamin C of 75 grams three times weekly. The results showed that average overall survival was 16 months for the patients receiving the chemotherapy plus vitamin C, compared to eight months for the patients getting just chemotherapy. In addition, progression free survival was extended from four months to six months.  Patients felt better with the vitamin C, had have fewer side effects, and were able to tolerate more treatment. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2213231724003537

The results of another University of Iowa phase 2 clinical trial in patients with glioblastoma, a deadly form of brain cancer, were published. That study also showed a significant increase in survival when high-dose, IV vitamin C was added to standard of care chemotherapy and radiation  (published online March 30, 2024 in the journal Cancer Cell).

For twenty years, Cullen, Allen, and their associates have been investigating the potential anti-cancer effects of high-dose intravenous vitamin C. They showed that administering vitamin C intravenously (IV) results in elevated blood levels that are not possible with oral vitamin C. Cancer cells are altered by the high concentration, making them more susceptible to radiation and chemotherapy.
