MONCKEBERG’S DISEASE
Mönckeberg’s disease calcifies the middle layer of medium and small blood vessels in extremities. It does not cause obstruction generally.
However, it significantly reduces arterial compliance, turning muscular vessels into rigid, non-distensible “pipestems” and can thereby raise blood pressure, heart problems, etc.
