BIG PHARMA MASK HIGH DRUG PRICES BY DONATING TO CO-PAY GROUPS
Lawrenceville, NJ (Dr Simone) – According to Kaiser Health News, Big Pharma donates to Co-Pay Assistance Groups that they actually fund (below) and to other charities that in turn donate to those Co-Pay Assistance Groups. These Co-Pay Assistance Groups were created to help patients with the very high cost of drugs. This masks the high cost of drugs that is paid by health insurance companies that pass those costs along to consumers and employers. The patient doesn’t realize this but certainly doesn’t mind because of the smaller out of pocket co-payment for the drug. But the employer and you ultimately pay for it.
For every $1 million donated by Big Pharma to help patients get high priced drugs, $21 million can be generated back to Big Pharma (Citi Research).
