The Trans Pacific Partnership is a massive trade deal soon to be completed. The text of the international trade deal is a closely held secret. Members of the US Congress can read it only if they agree to leave all recording devices, pens and their staffers out of the room. The Trans Pacific Partnership is a bad trade deal for all Americans and the world at large. If the Congress does this, our health policy will be compromised for years.
I asked myself several questions.
WHY is the current CoVID-19 coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2) so powerful, and so virulent?
WHY does it preferentially seek out people who have high ACE2 docking sites on their cells due to their prescription medicines or diseases, obesity, smoking?
WHY does it cause tremendous immune system dysfunction in many infected people, similar to what we see with AIDS patients?
And Who funded this?
The best part of the 21st Century Cures Act if enacted into law would be for an increased NIH funding. But the rest could lead to approval of drugs and devices that are not safe and not effective.
The federal government, the biggest payer of cancer care, made cancer costs soar because Medicare pays an extra $6500 a year when chemotherapy is given to a patient in a hospital owned facility. Private insurers also pay a higher premium for care delivered in a hospital setting. The costs will keep spiraling upward because of Government intrusion and clever lobbyists, forcing cancer patients from private practitioners to hospital owned facilities incurring much higher costs.
Patient-assistance programs effectively: (1) increase demand for the drug, (2) allow companies to charge higher prices and thereby gain higher profits, and, (3) enjoy tremendous public-relations benefits.
