Lawrenceville, NJ (Dr Charles Simone) – The Simone HEALTHY START Prevention Program™ was first started in 1983 by Charles B. Simone, M.D. It is described as the only prevention program in the country. Prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses is feasible, economical, and makes a lot of sense.
The key to prevention is to teach our children early in life about a healthy lifestyle. Prevention with simple changes in lifestyle is the key to America’s soaring health care costs and soaring rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, etc. One of every two people in the United States develop cancer. The National Academy of Sciences indicates that 60% of women’s cancers and 40% of men’s cancers and 80% of cardiovascular diseases are related to nutritional factors alone.
The Simone HEALTHY START Prevention Program™ is designed to teach children about healthful lifestyles early in life. The Program consists of planned lunches, newsletters sent home, assemblies to instruct about the “good” and “bad” foods, vitamins and minerals, as well as other lifestyle factors.
Taking 100% of the Recommended Daily Intake of vitamins to children between the ages of 3 and 12 can raise their I.Q. by 12 points.
Taking 100% of the Recommended Daily Intake of vitamins to children and teenagers who are bullies can quell their aggressive behavior.
1) Six planned lunches as was done in 1988 at Ben Franklin Elementary School, Lawrenceville, NJ
2) Newsletters sent home prior to each lunch explaining what was eaten and why
3) Two Assemblies:
First Assembly: a short slide presentation; a table with healthy foods on it, and a table with foods that are not so healthy; and a dramatic presentation of cooking down a hamburger showing how much fat is in it and how disgusting it smells and looks.
Second Assembly: a review of learned information; presentation of several new topics; and, finally, the children will decide on the menu for the last planner lunch.
4) Healthy Start Health Fair Day for the children and their parents displaying the Ten Fascinating Stops on the Way to Good Health.
Either with individual seminars or during a three-month period, we instruct young children about each aspect of the Ten Fascinating Stops on the Way to Good Health:
Dr. Simone intends that a healthy lifestyle will become permanent for the children involved in the Simone HEALTHY START Prevention Program™ and also their parents. Based on a wealth of medical information, Dr Simone expects to see a decrease in the risk and incidence of cancer, cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses for those who adhere to this Ten Point Plan
