Lawrenceville, NJ (Dr Simone) – Adolescents and young adults have concerns with their body image. Almost half of adolescent girls are dissatisfied with the way their bodies look. But more recently, teenage males and young men engage in muscle enhancing behaviors. 18% are highly concerned, and 3% use products to enhance muscularity including supplements, growth hormone derivatives, or anabolic steroids to achieve their desired physique.  Those who used products to enhance their muscles were more likely to start binge drinking frequently and using drugs.
